Center for Network Centric Cognition and Information Fusion
The Center for Network Centric Cognition and Information Fusion (NC2IF) is a new center being established at Penn State, lead by the College of Information Sciences and Technology. The center will gather intellectual resources across Penn State to address research projects that span the entire information chain from energy detection through knowledge creation. We will apply multi-discipline and inter-discipline research to address large-scale applications such as homeland security, national defense, medical diagnosis and environmental monitoring. Other applications include smart homes for elderly and physically impaired people, global supply-chain management, traffic monitoring and others. Due to the nature of these applications and requisite expertise, the center will require strong links between the Applied Research Laboratory and researchers in IST, the College of Engineering, Earth and Mineral Sciences, the College of Science, the Hershey Medical Center, and other academic units and research institutes. Our goal is to encourage new links between historically partitioned research areas, thereby providing new opportunities for all participating researchers.
