Applied Research Laboratory
The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) of The Pennsylvania State University has a responsibility to apply its capabilities to the defense of the United States of America. Prior to September 11th, 2001, our capabilities were primarily focused on defending America from the military forces of hostile nations. ARL worked closely with the military and other agencies of the government to help meet the nation’s defense needs.
Now we must apply ourselves to helping insure that our homeland is protected against the attacks on our nation by terrorists. We are also rededicating ourselves to working with U.S. companies as well as government agencies to improve security.
As one of America’s leading technological centers, ARL is committed to applying its vast and varied resources and technologies to support our government and private industry in developing and deploying technologies that deter and defend against terrorist attacks.
