Home | About HSI

Penn State's Homeland Security Initiative involves advancing the education, research, and outreach programs at the University to improve homeland security and the welfare of our communities.

The three mission areas of HSI are: 1. Learning: provide homeland security education and training for the workforce and the next generation of professionals; 2. Discovery: ongoing research dedicated to strengthen the security of our communities; and 3. Engagement: outreach to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and beyond. The HSI website will allow you to identify your needs and engage participation from Penn State faculty and staff. Faculty members may request to add information to this website by contacting us.

We have relationships with agencies within the federal, state, and local governments inside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and within other adjacent states and localities. We would be delighted to assist in your program where ever possible. Please contact the various researchers listed within our website, or contact HSI directly for additional information regarding how Penn State may assist with your homeland security needs.
